Mission
At BCSS, our motto is
"The love of sport through learning, and the love of learning through sport".
An integral part of this is the immersion of students in Health and Physical Education while attending this school.
We aspire to offer the best HPE experience by:
Supporting the entire “wellness” of our students – mental, physical, emotional and spiritual and ensuring that students become "Physically Literate"
Promoting a life-long appreciation of sport and fitness
Maximizing the use of our specialized HPE staff and multi-faceted facilities in collaboration with our Athletic Director and Strength and Conditioning Coach
Providing an inclusive approach to delivering Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) pathways as well as guidance for student-athletes who are active on any level of Canada’s LTAD model.
Delivering education and resources to parents, coaches, and students that embody the Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) model and philosophy.
Setting goals that allow for meaningful individual reflection and growth
Offering a variety of rich curricular and co-curricular activities
Aligning our Assessment and Evaluation practices as a Department with Growing Success
Our Facilities
Our facilities are second to none. BCSS boasts an incredible array of functional spaces which help to enrich our HPE programming.
Some of these include:
2 artificial turf fields
2 Plyometrics Rooms
1 natural grass field
An Aerobics studio with functional Spin studio
3 gymnasiums
A Free and Universal Weight room
A standard length 400 m rubberized track

Uniform
It is a daily expectation that all students at BCSS are to wear BCSS uniform in their activity based Phys Ed courses. Students should bring a change of clothes daily. There are many reasons for this including identification, safety and hygiene.
In addition to their BCSS shirts, students are expected to be in black shorts and athletic footwear.
When a student registers in Grade 9, they are provided with 3 shirts and 1 pair of shorts. If a student requires additional pieces of H.P.E. uniform, they can be purchased from the Colts store.
