Students, as we move through this process, please ensure that you are checking your Gapps email for correspondence from the Guidance department.
Grade 9/10 Students- Request to Make a Change
Timetable change requests will only be considered for level changes or a change in electives. Requests for changes in periods or teachers will not be considered. Grade 10 students requesting a Grade 11 course will only be considered after Grade 11 changes are completed. In this circumstance, students will be informed after January 27.
Steps to Take:
Complete the Google Form; a copy of this form will be sent to parents.
Parents are asked to email a response with their approval to make the change.
Students will be contacted with a new timetable only if the change is possible. Please note that space is limited and requesting a change does not guarantee that it can be made.
Timelines:
Google form opens on January 16 @ 9am.
Google form closes on January 22 @ 3pm.
Changes will be considered on January 20 with the goal of completion by January 27.
Grade 11/12 Students- Request to Make a Change
Timetable change requests for specific periods or teachers will not be considered. Grade 12 requests will be processed first, followed by Grade 11.
Steps to Take:
Complete the Google Form (Grade 11/Grade 12) to indicate that you would like to request a change.
Students, you will receive an email with a randomized appointment number and a change request form.
The change request form should be completed and printed. Hard copies of this form will be available in the Guidance office.
Students will be called down to Guidance according to their number.
Guidance counsellors will meet individually with students to try to make the requested change. Students will need to bring their completed and approved change request form when they meet with guidance.
If a change can be made then it will be done during the appointment and a new timetable will be given to the student. This will be the final timetable for semester two, further changes will not be made.
Timelines:
Google form will open on January 20 @ 9am.
Google form will close January 27 @ 3pm.
Emails will be sent to students the evening of January 27.
Guidance will begin to call students on January 28.
Grade 12 Students- Course Drops
Grade 12 students may wish to drop a course for a spare. This can be done if the following criteria are met:
The student will still have a total of three courses plus an ILIP on their timetable at BCSS for semester two.
The student will have a total of 30 or more credits at the end of semester two.
The student will still meet graduation requirements.
Before making your final decision, please also check the requirements/prerequisites for the post-secondary program(s) that you have applied for.
